"I first saw Joanna at an Open House in Brighton, and as my daughter and I love hats I took a card. The following year I needed a hat to go to Ascot. I took along an outfit and had various ideas, but in the end we adapted the style from another hat there. I have ended up with a 1940's style hat which stayed on despite a very windy day and was comfortable to wear all day as well, I have three people stop me to comment on how nice my hat was!! The beauty of it is that the actual hat is neutral and I have two very stylish turquoise feathers on it, and it can be retrimmed to be another hat next year. She has also made two of my daughters hats, one for every day and another trimmed for ascot. We will be back next year for more. Thank you Joanna."

"I did not want to travel to London but I did want a very special hat for a very special occasion - my god daughter's wedding. So I googled "milliners in Sussex" and up popped Joanna Zara Millinery. I 'phoned Joanna and explained that I wanted a 1920's, art deco "as seen on Poirot" type of hat. She was very excited at the prospect of tackling this request. I wore my wedding outfit on my first visit and provided some examples of the style I had in mind. Joanna took some measurements, sketched a design, we discussed materials and feathers etc and she did all the rest. Three visits in all to her unique, architect designed home and I came away with the most stunning creation - perfectly balanced, comfortable to wear and "not another like it in the whole of Sussex"! The wedding was lovely, despite the cold weather. The hat was a knockout - I am afraid I stole the show. I had several very complimentary comments about it."
